Felix on the Bat - Five Facsimile Limited Edition Prints of the Original Lithographs by George Frederick Watts OM RA 1817-1904
New World Ventures Ltd./The Watts Gallery, London 2000 - No. 33 of an edition limited to 295 sets, containing 5 giclée hand-cut facsimile colour prints (14" x 11"), printed on 300g rag paper, with prospectus leaf, held in a cream portfolio box. [pub. 2000]. The prints have been taken from the excellently preserved set of original lithographs held by the Watts Gallery, Compton, Surrey. 'In 1837, Watts was commissioned by his friend, the great 19th century cricketer, artist, inventor and author Nicholas Wanostrocht, better known as Nicholas Felix, to produce a series of lithographs from original drawings to accompany Felix's landmark cricket manual, 'Felix on the Bat'. These prints, illustrating the classic batting styles of the early 19th century, are now regarded as among the most collectible of cricketing memorabilia'.
