Continuation De l'Histoire Universelle De Messire Jacques Benigne Bossuet, Tome Troisieme, Depuis L'an 1688, Jusqu'a La Mort De Clement XI, 1721
Amsterdam: Etienne Roger ( Estienne ), 1722. full calf with some mild wear, five raised bands on spine, restrained gilt decoration on spine, red label with title present but label presumably showing volume number is missing, text is clean and tight throughout, complete with engraved frontispiece, vignette on title page and twenty four fold-out maps at rear, 527 pages of text, plus publisher's catalogue and the maps. Third and final volume of this edition. The author is not stated, but Jean de la Barre is attributed with writing part of it. However he is thought to have died around 1711, and I can find no detail on who might have brought it up to 1721 - perhaps Roger himself? There is a neat ink signature on the title page next to the vignette, 'J. De Virasel' which may refer to the writer. There is an armorial bookplate on the front pastedown. Odd volume. First Edition. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
