Boston: Little, Brown, 1932. First Edition. Hardcover. First Printing (matching publication dates on the title and copyright pages) of the first installment in the authors' Bounty Trilogy. 8vo; xii, 396pp. Publisher's blue cloth, the spine and upper cover stamped in silver with bright lettering and a vignette of the Bounty on a stylized wave, the fore-edge untrimmed, with second-issue illustrated end papers; in a first-issue dust jacket (with an advertisement for the authors' first book, "Falcons of France," on the back panel) beautifully illustrated by Henry G. Pitz and priced at $2.50. A Fine copy, square, tight and unmarked, the pages completely fresh and bright; in a Fine jacket, with just a hint of toning to the spine panel. In all, a superb copy, and quite scarce thus. The basis for two films, the first, released in 1935, starring Charles Laughton and Clark Gable, the second, from 1962, starring Marlon Brando.
