Bleak House by Charles Dickens, illustrated with engraved plates by Hablot Knight Browne (1815 - 1882), an English artist, famous as Phiz, illustrator of books by Charles Dickens, Charles Lever and Harrison Ainsworth. With an illustrated half title. Bound from the parts. Bleak House is a novel by Charles Dickens, published in 20 monthly installments between March 1852 and September 1853. It is held to be one of Dickens's finest novels, containing one of the most vast, complex and engaging arrays of minor characters and sub-plots in his entire canon. With previous owner's ink inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Condition: In a half calf binding with marbled cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart but with slight wear to extremities, with slight rubbing and the odd markto boards. Internally, generally firmly bound but strained in places with a few pages detached and some starting. Bright but with occasional spotting and handling marks and with foxing to plates as usual. Overall: GOOD.
