London - Oxford University Press, 1959 Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. A 1959 edition of Francis Turner Palgrave's The Golden Treasury. A collection of 'the best songs & lyrical poems in the English Language' selected and arranged by Francis Turner Palgrave. With additional poems included in order to bring the collection up to date. The work was originally published in 1861 with help from Alfred Tennyson. This collection contains poems by many notable poets, across four books. Poets include Sidney, Shakespeare, Goldsmith, Burns, Shelley, Keats, Wordsworth, Longfellow and Yeats. Condition: In a full calf binding with gilt stamped detailing to the spine. Externally, excellent with minor rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Binder's stamp to verso of front endpaper indicates a Baytnun Riviere binding. Gift inscription to verso of front endpaper 'To Philippa on her Confirmation 15th November 1963 with love from Uncle Teddy. ' Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean throughout. Overall: NEAR FINE..
