Jamaican Migrant Workers
(n.d. but mid 1980s). Photograph Photograph. Near Fine. Three vintage gelatin silver prints, two 8 by 10s and one 8.5 by 11. The images show Jamaican migrant workers in Florida, probably recently finished with the sugar cane harvest, preparing to return home. The photographer, Michel duCille, was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. He joined the staff of the Miami Herald, from whose archive these photographs are from, winning two Pulitzer Prizes for photography there, and a third in his current role as a photographer for the Washington Post. Images near fine to fine, with handwritten captions, typical press markings, and the photographer's stamp on the back.
