Nella Stamp. Della R. C. A., Rome, Italy 1740 - 0 engraved; [20] 206 [8] pages; Width: 5" Height: 7.25". This Italian first edition volume is bound by decorative marbled boards with the title emblazoned in gilt letters on the leather spine cover. The volume features a fine engraved portrait of the text's subject, Joanna, a 15th century princess of Portugal. The daughter of Alfonso V, Joanna was noted for her beauty and recognized for her courage and persistence in resisting attempts to force her to marry. This anonymous account of her life is apparently the only edition and is recorded in the NUC by only one copy (DLC). Errata leaf, Daughter [1452[1490] of Alfonso V.
