History and Antiquities of Stratford-Upon-Avon Church, Life of Shakespeare A Particular Account of the Jubilee Celebrated in Stratford.
Stratford-Upon-Avon, J.Ward. n.d. (1806) - Contemporary tree calf, nicely rebacked antique style, red morocco label, gilt. 8 sepia aquatint and etched plates (including the Jubilee Amphitheatre), half-title, pp ii, 229. Small stamp to edge of title-page. Abbey, Scenery 317. Fresh, crisp copy of the First Edition. The final pp164-209 detail the Jubilee celebrations and Garrick's participation therein, including the text of the Garland performed there, some of which makes MacGonagall look like John Keats "Immortal be his name, his memory, his fame." The very pleasant and accomplished sepia aquatints, after Wheler himself, include a general view from the river, Church, Shakespeare's Monument, Bridge, Shakespeare's Birthplace, New Place, Jubilee Amphitheatre - and have costumed figures in foreground and sailing boats on the Avon.
