Book written at the request of the surviving pioneers of southern Alberta, Canada. Many of the members supplied reminiscences, many of which are personal recollections, and others deal heavily with aspects of pioneer life in the west. Much on fur traders and explorers, the Hudson Bay Company, the wild west after company rule, the coming of the North West Mounted Police, Indians, the foundations of the ranching industry, the development of cattle ranching, horse and sheep ranching, the decline of the ranching industry, agriculture and mining, and much more. Herd 1404 says "Scarce." Peel 3203 says "History of the development of ranching in southern Alberta. One of the cornerstones of Alberta ranching history." A bright, clean, fine copy.
