USA 1946 - Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card no. 4, USA. Lana Turner, John Garfield, Leon Ames, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, dir: Tay Garnett; MGM. Great card for the famous film noir drama based on the James M. Cain novel. The story of an unhappily married woman who, with a drifter, plans and carries out the murder of her husband, is one of the best remembered, most atmospheric and sexually tense films (even within the restraints of the production code) of this period genre. It took 12 years to bring the notorious James M. Cain novel to the screen because of the code restrictions. Writer Cain felt that Lana Turner made the perfect Cora. In card no. 4, she shows off a nightgown her husband Nick (Cecil Kellaway) has bought her, baiting the vulnerable Frank (John Garfield). There is one small mended tear in middle right margin, NEAR FINE.
