Arkhitektura Zheleznodorozhnykh Vokzalov [The Architecture of Railway Stations]
The only edition of one of the first books on construction of railway stations as specialty buildings, 303 pp., with introduction by Miron Roslavlev, profusely illustrated throughout with over 300 illustrations including sketches, floor plans, models, and reproductions from photographs, with two large folding plates. Two plates with very small tears along folds. Large 8vo. Blue cloth-covered boards, minor rubbing and wear especially to extremities, very minor soiling. Moscow (Vsesouznaya Akademiya Arkhitektury) 1938. Igor Yavein studied at the Institute of Civil Engineers under Alexander Nikolsky, a noted figure in the field of constructivist architecture in Leningrad. This volume is particularly interesting for the photos and plans of railway terminals which are no longer extant in the condition shown, having been abandoned, destroyed, or reconstructed. Very scarce; as of January 2018, WorldCat does not show a single holding in the United States.
