London: David Bogue, Fleet Street, 1847. Very Good. First edition. 12mo. pp. xvi, 192, with a 16pp. publisher's catalogue at the back. Lacking the frontispiece plate, else complete with 11 hand-colored plates designed by the English botanical painter James Andrews. Bound in publisher's dark green morocco with elaborate gold-stamped designs on both boards and the spine, all edges gilt. Contemporary bookseller's ticket: "George May, Evesham" on front pastedown and ownership initial: "B" on the title page. Neat professional paper repair to the front hinge, some darkening to the spine gilt, top corners are bumped, a handsome, very good copy featuring bright gold-stamped boards and fine hand-colored plates.
