Confucian Analects (with Original band) and Correspondence
New York(1951): Square & Series 98p. Inscribed to Dr. Matthew Persion, April 1955 (the dentist who provided his services before Pound was released from St. Elizabeth's in Washington, D.C). With original wrap around band which is printed in red: Why is Confucius banned from the schools in Red China? Read the Analects and find out! Included also to the same doctor, a postcard with Pound's picture from Hotel Italia, Rfallo, "pleasant memories & greetings to Dr. Persion, May 15, E.P. There is also a postcard with the postmarks unidentified, from the poet, typed: in this corner, one burg [Brunnenburg, Tirolo Merano Italia) "Dear MMP [Matthew M. Persion] greets for thanksgiving, shd/ be glad to have report on state of nation if it has got one, best to Madame." Both cards addressed to Silver Hill, Md (one in Pound's handwriting, one typed). Also envelope addressed in his writing with no content, signed Pound 8 Rachewiltz, Schloss Brunnerburg, Tirolo, Merano, Italy (address written boldly over old envelope from Clerk's Office, Highland Park, New Jersey]. Bound in original gray paper wraps lettered in black, yapped edges. Very good. First Edition. Original Wraps. Very Good.
