Elbridge Gerry was a champion of the Federalist movement and is noted as a staunch supporter of Alexander Hamilton's national bank and the banking policies of the Federalists. This copy of 'Belles Lettres' Volume II was originally owned by Elbridge Gerry and bears his signature on the front free end page. Published in 1758, this copy remains in the original leather binding and is housed in a custom clamshell display case.
