Intricately detailed, blind-embossed decorative borders on boards, both front and back. 5 raised bands. 6 compartments. Beautiful gilt-embossed decorative flourishes within compartments. Burgundy Morocco title stamps with gilt lettering on spines. Below, green Morocco volume markers. Expertly repaired at spine and board edges. Coated in weather-resistant clear lacquer. Tight bindings and solid boards. Moderate bumping to corners. Rubbing to boards. Cracking at spine edges. Slight darkening to extremities of boards. Scuffing to board edges. Slight discoloration to extremities of endpapers. Personal library stickers in top corner of each volume. Light notation. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Gorgeous, detailed copper-plate illustrations throughout, as well as inlaid engravings at headings and chapter introductions. Minimal discoloration to page edges. Overall, a well-preserved anthology in excellent condition.With the Appendix Vergiliana also attributed to him, the Eclogues (Bucolics,) Georgics, and the Aenid were Virgils three major works. Virgil came to be regarded as one of Rome's greatest poets. His Aeneid can be considered a national of Rome and has been extremely popular from its publication to the present day, seeing multiple editions and translations. His epic, the Aeneid, followed the literary model of Iliad and Odyssey. The story is about Aeneas search for a new homeland and his war to found a city.
