Featuring an engraved frontispiece. Contains two engraved plates and vignettes throughout. 'With designs by Mr. Craig and engraved on wood by Mr. Bewick'. Thomas Percy (13 April 1729 30 September 1811) was Bishop of Dromore, Ireland. Before being made bishop, he was chaplain to George III. Percy's Reliques of Ancient English Poetry (1765) was the one work most responsible for the ballad revival in English poetry that was a significant part of the Romantic movement. 'The Hermit of Warkworth', first publishedin 1771,tells thetraditional story of the origin of Warkworth Hermitage, attributing it to one of the Bertrams of Bothal Castle in this county. Condition: Rebound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally,generally smart thoughworn to the corners. Internally, firmly bound. A few scattered spots. Tidemarks to the half title and to the marginsof several pages. Overall: VERY GOOD..
