Photo Album]: "Stonyhurst" Waterbury, Connecticut and Yellowstone
Yellowstone, Pennsylvania, Connecticut 1926 - Oblong octavo. Black leather over paper boards measuring 7" x 11.5". Assembled are 224 sepia toned and black and white photographs affixed to stiff black paper in various sizes ranging from 1.5" x 3" to 7" x 9". A few pages detached but present, rubbing, and short tears else very good. A photo album compiled by Milton S. Mulloy which begins in 1923 with pictures from his college days at Stonyhurst College in Waterbury, Connecticut and continuing through his travels over the next few years. Many of the excursions are in the New England area including, swimming in a river in Salisbury, New York, a visit to Amherst, Smuggler's Notch, Vermont. The mountains, waterfalls, and trees of the region are documented in the photos as well as group photos and one of a friend captioned "Dapper Dan" posing on top of "Chapel Tower." Mulloy's expeditions also took him to the midwest including a short stay in Montana en route to Yellowstone National Park. In over 100 photographs Yellowstone is depicted in all it's glory from the "Paint Pots" to Old Faithful "in action." There are images of Artist's Point, the Great Falls, and various wildlife including a buffalo and a bear captioned, "the holdup near." Within the album are two panoramas from the geyser basin of West Thumb and of the wharf, as well as a photograph of a Native American in full regalia captioned "one of the originals." A wonderful collection of photographs with an emphasis on Yellowstone.
