London: William Phillips 1822 - First edition, 8vo, (viii), lxi, (3), 58, (2), 59-470, (2) pp. Folding geological frontispiece map of England and Wales plus an extending coloured plate of strata (extending to 32 inches and mounted on linen), an extending plate of apparatus and an extending table, creasing and some careful repairs to the outer edge of the map. 20th century half calf, brown and black spine labels, a very good copy. Although the title page states "Part I" no further material was published. Conybeare was "one of the band of pioneers [who] raised the study of rocks and fossils into the science of geology. The chief investigator and describer of the early discoveries of marine fossil reptiles in Britain" (Challinor p185).
