A superb copy of this rare miniature angling work. "Exceedingly rare but not unique as stated in the sale catalogue of the Huth Library" (Schwerdt). The work is undated, but on page 31 is a reference to "a Curious book, lately printed, The Angler's Sure Guide" (published in 1706). The angling section comprises nearly half of the book, which is adapted from Markham's original texts, The Pleasures of Princes, Hungers Prevention, Country Contentments, and Markhams Method. With distinguished provenance: Dr. Samuel W. Lambert (1859-1942) was a noted New York physician, bibliophile, and angling collector, and a member of the Anglers' Club of New York. His collection included the 1675 chalk portrait of Walton by Edmund Ashfield. He was author of When Mr. Pickwick Went Fishing (1924), and was closely involved with the New York Academy of Medicine, forming its rare book collection while president; he also organized the 1934 Bremer Presse reprint of Vesalius from the original blocks.
