London, Grant Richards. 1918. - With an Introductory essay by J.E. Crawford Flitch. First edition. Colour frontispiece, 23 other plates. 4to, quarter cloth boards, with paper labels. Signed in pencil at the foot of the frontispiece by Nevinson. Additionally inscribed "To my good friend Don Pedro from J.E. Crawford Fllitch Dec 1919. Nevinson joined the army in the autumn of 1914 and went to Flanders as a mechanic and ambulance driver. He was invalided out in 1916 but was to become one of the great war artists, producing some of the most harrowing images of the conflict. Fine. A lovely copy preserved in a specially made slip case.
