CONSTABLE & CO LTD, London 1909 - H/b's.2 Vols-set.1st ed.1909.Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and decs to spine and front cover, Two Vols. Vol I, xiii+ 356pp Vol II vii pp359-580. All plates maps and figs as called for including contemporary and other accounts arranged in parallel columns of the Norman Invasion . The later are printed on one side only on quality paper and constitute 27 double sheets mounted on tabs between pp 568 and 569 again as called for per contents page Vol II. VG (Books- Boards -bright and clean with only minor shelf wear- colour loss only to extremities. Armorial Family crest book plate of "Molineux" (Norman origin) to front paste down of both vols. Moderate to heavy foxing to edges of book blocks and to prelim and end papers ( Save for the better quality paper of the plates and double sheets) The foxing is mild and limited to occasionally to margins of the inner pages. No annotations or inscriptions.). A very handsome set which is now difficult to source in it's original book form. Offered with it is the 8pp prospectus for the book seeking subscriptions prior to publication which contains a specimen plate. There is also a letter addressed to "The Times" from Hastings Town Council for publication dated Nov. 1925 soliciting donations from readers to raise funds to secure the purchase of The Fire Hills at Fairlight to save them from the hands of developers.
