The Wrecker
92 - New York - Charles Scribners, 1891 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. A wonderful find for Stevenson fans: the first appearance of Stevenson's and Osbourne'sThe Wrecker created from the original parts. This a collection of the first printed serial appearances of The Wrecker extracted from Scribner's Magazine and bound as one complete work. High quality paper has been laid down covering superfluous text to make for a continuous narrative. Includes the original Scribner's Magazine title pages laid down. The Wrecker (1892) is a long, diffuse mystery story with fine descriptions of life at sea and recollections of Edinburgh, San Francisco, and artists' life in Paris and Barbizon; it is Stevenson in relaxed mood, providing entertainment rather than great literature. Condition: In a recent half morocco binding. Externally, just a little fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound, with just a little marginal browning and the occasional spot. With a small wax seal to the rear pastedown. Overall: FINE..
