Although monograph author mentioned artist’s the most important biographical stages, first of all he focused on a detailed survey of Triik’s work. Waga’s main purpose was to highlight Triik as an artist and basic instrument used for this purpose was the critical aesthetic observation of the artist's works. Followed Triik’s main artistic influences such as Symbolism and Expressionism, and these sources, like creation of Van Gogh, Cezanne, Roerich, Munch and others. A thorough analysis of creativity is the main advantage of Waga’s monograph when compared to the others publications on Triik. Nikolai Triik (1884–1940) was one of Estonia’s most important Modernists. His work led to a breakthrough in Estonian art bringing together both nationalist aspirations and international influences. His creation displays elements of Symbolism and Expressionism. In Triik’s work, landscapes and portraits dominate, but there are also politically motivated works and powerful visionary compositions. His art fed the soul, the spirit and the intellect. Member of the governing council of the "Eesti Kunstiselts" (Estonian Art Association) and progressive art association named "Pallas". He became the first Estonian to be named a Professor of Art. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
