Collections of Travels through Turky into Persia and the East-Indies, 2 vols., together with A Relation to the Kingdom of Japan and Tunkin, together with A New Description of the Grand Seignior's Seraglio, with Catalogus Librorum at end
London: Moses Pitt. 1684. Hardcover. Very Good. 1684. Hardcover, small folio ( 8 x 12 inches). Rebacked with new marbled boards and rear morocco spine label. Text, plates and maps appear to be complete. 16 folding plates and views, large map of Japan, 22 plates and 3 vignette illustrations. "Collections" is complete in 2 volumes, and the additional materials are all bound-in. Only the "Collections" and "Seraglio" have separate title pages. Lovely new binding. Some of the leather and gilt decoration from the original spine has flecked off, but still in very nice condition overall. Darkening and light foxing to pages, but the text is still readable. RARE. A similar copy with more wear to the plates and some sections misbound sold for $2800 at Bonham's auction in 2002.
