Edinburgh & London: William Blackwood and Sons,, 1866. The radical. 3 volumes, octavo (198 x 130 mm). Early 20th-century tan half morocco by Birdsall & Son, Northampton, raised bands to spines, blue morocco labels, compartments decorated in gilt, blue cloth sides with a double gilt rule, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Bookplate of Sir George John Armytage, 6th Baronet (1842–1918) to front pastedowns. Extremities a little rubbed, pale spotting to prelims, otherwise an excellent copy. First edition. Felix Holt was "less successful than Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss, or Silas Marner, although nearly 5000 copies were sold in the first year" (ODNB).
