Original Victorian Manuscript Book Artwork, Jane Austen Style, "The Two Prettiest Girls in the Room were Quarrelling about Him" For an Edition of "The History of Pendennis" by William Makepeace Thackeray
Unknown, United Kingdom 1897 - This is a finely executed original pen and ink illustration done for a Victorian edition of William Makepeace Thackeray's book "The History of Pendennis" a beautifully evocative drawing that could have easily been a scene from a Jane Austen Novel the artwork is signed W.L. ( I have been told it could possibly be the artist William Lenton, or William Lance) there is also some speculation that it could be the artist Christine Hammond using a pseudonym, Christine also illustrated other Thackeray books as well as a Victorian edition of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice", the artist also records their address on the back of the artwork as being No 24 Lithos Road, Hampstead, London with this information it should be possible with a bit of research to put a definite name to the artist drawn on a piece of card measuring 14 inches by 10 inches, this is a lighter item, shipping will be reduced at checkout were possible A FINE ORIGINAL VICTORIAN BOOK ILLUSTRATION WOULD MAKE A FINE FEATURE FRAMED Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
