Brief History of the Boone and Crockett Club with Officers, Constitution and List of Members for the Year 1910
New York: Forest and Stream Publishing Company, 1911. Hardcover. 8vo. Tan cloth with brown lettering. 71pp. Very good. Binding a bit age toned and faintly soiled, though internally tight and bright; small inoffensive stain at lower outer corner of most pages. Scarce first edition of this early organizational booklet and history of the oldest of all American wildlife conservation organization, founded by Theodore Roosevelt in 1887 and named after two of the United States' most famed frontiersman. Its membership consisted of a "Who's Who" of important outdoorsy and conservation figures such as Gifford Pinchot, Charles A. Sheldon, Madison Grant -- and of course Grinnell and Roosevelt, along with many noted politicians, cabinet members and other East Coast movers and shakers. Tipped to the front flyleaf is a fine 5" X 6½" printed announcement, signed in type by Grinnell, transmitting and explaining this publication, which it notes "contains not a little detailed history, never before recorded...." Quite uncommon -- certainly produced in a small quantity for distribution among its exclusive membership.
