- Antique print, titled: 'Vreeswyk.' - (Vreeswijk.) Attractive view onto the town of Vreeswijk and the Vecht river, The Netherlands. Etching on hand laid paper. Watermark: Lettering. Description: Originally published ca. 1766. This ed. published by F.W. Greebe in Amsterdam. Probably published as a small collection of prints, bound in a wrapper held together by a cord. Very rare.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'W. Writs' after 'J. de Beijer'. Willem Writs (1731-1786; active in Amsterdam 1760-1786) was a Dutch watch maker and engineer but also a draughtsman and etcher of architecture and landscapes. Jan de Beijer (1703 - 1780), also given as Jan de Beyer, was a Dutch draughtsman and painter known for this drawings of towns and buildings in the present-day countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In total, he produced some 1500 drawings, over 600 of which were reproduced as engravings by other artists. Condition: Excellent, given age. Small holes in left margin from binding in wrapper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: A120-21 The overall size is ca. 10.8 x 8.3 inch. The image size is ca. 7.9 x 5.7 inch. The overall size is ca. 27.5 x 21 cm. The image size is ca. 20 x 14.5 cm.
