Buck Clayton's Jazz World
Oxford University Press, New York 1987 - Warmly inscribed and SIGNED by Buck Clayton at the title page, "To my man Jimmie, With admiration, Buck". Also SIGNED, dated and inscribed at the Contents page , "To Jimmy, Forever Friendship, Ram Ramirez, 1987". Roger 'Ram' Ramirez (1913-1994), with whom Clayton performed and recorded, was a jazz pianist, organist and composer, best known as the cowriter of the jazz standard 'Lover Man', immortalized by Billie Holiday, in her recording of 1944. In black cloth boards, spine ends slightly compressed, touch of wear to botton edge of front board, else about fine, tight, unmarked, in a fine, unclipped dust jacket, minimal shelf wear, in mylar sleeve. Memoir of the talented arranger and great Basie trumpeter's life in jazz, with a discography compiled by Bob Weir.
