Written originally in the Spainsh tongue by Prudencio de Sandoval, Doctor of Divinitie, and Abbat of the Monasterie of St Isidro el Real, in Valladolid, of the Order of St. Bennet, Histographer Roial to Philip the Third; never yet translated, now put into english by Captain J. W.
London, William du Gard, John Holden, 1652. Hardback, approx 11 x 7 inches. Full calf leather binding with red leather spine label lettered in gilt; with raised banding and gilt decoration to spine. Embossed line paneled boards. In very good condition. Contemporary leather covers, professionally rebound. Contemporary endpapers. Some minor tanning to pages, a couple of minor foxing spots, some light foxing to title page, small hole to margin of title and preface pages and to first main page. Title penned to top outer corner of closed page edges. Else pages in very good condition throughout. An excellent very scarce copy. 387pp. With decorative engraved headers and letterpieces.
