Le Thé du Capitaine Sogoub.
Paris: Au Sans Pareil,, 1926. Nouvelle illustrée d'images hors-texte gravées par Nathalie Gontcharova. Small quarto. Original blue paper wrappers, titles to front cover and spine in blue. Illustrated frontispiece and 5 illustrated plates, all with tissue guards. Covers faded, otherwise an excellent copy. First and limited edition, number 339 of 1,000 copies printed on Annonay imitation vellum. Of the total edition of 1,260, another 20 were printed on Vélin Cuve; 60 on Japon Impérial; and 180 on Hollande van Gelder. The story features an encounter around a samovar between Russian immigrants and a former captain of the White Army. It is illustrated with an elegant set of plates by Nathalia Goncharova (1881–1962), the Russian avant-garde artist and member of Moscow's first radical independent exhibiting group, the Jack of Diamonds, who first exhibited in December 1910-11. She toured France as a set designer for numerous ballets and became a French citizen in 1928.
