Davis, New York 1797 - Book condition: good, very scarce 1797 publication, of particular note is the presence of the unbound frontis of Charlotte weeping over the tomb of Werter, the fact that this was unbound may explain its scarcity, this was once the property of the Phillips Library, stamp on title page and Lenfestey's Circulating Library, stamp on back of frontis along with an explanatory sticker on the front pastedown, this volume contains books I and II, full leather binding shows a 2.5" X .25" scuff to finish at top front, moderate scuffing and rounding to corners, spine features black title block, light scuffing to head and tail, a few notes in pencil on pastedowns and endpapers with numbers in pen on front pastedown, ffep and title page, initials in pen on page 13, light to moderate foxing throughout, text block often darkened but all text quite legible, binding tight, 240 pages, 4.25 X 6.75 inches.
