His Dark Materials / Northern Lights (SIGNED SIXTH PRINTING)
Scholastic Children's Books, London 1995 - Buying signed copies of Bill Pullman's "Dark Materials" trilogy (winner of the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize) -- and particularly this one, the first -- has gotten more complicated since the publisher released the 2005 "Tenth Anniversary" edition, signed in slipcase and limited to 3000 copies, which many online sellers (yes, including the self-anointed "leading Philip Pullman autograph expert on the internet") improperly list as "published 1995" instead of "2005." (Don't bother telling them; they don't care.) What we have here is a true 1995 edition (NOT a slipcased "10th Anniversary" edition), but NOT the first printing, which can currently run $1,000 and up. This is a signed sixth printing of the first edition, copyright 1995 with no later dates, with number line 6 8 10 9 7, only. Still states "First Published by Scholastic Publications Ltd., 1995." Author has signed full name, only, in blue ballpoint direct to title page. Spine straight, pages white. Book will close its own text block but not its boards; thus, "very good." Near-fine dust jacket is price clipped to bottom of front flap. Rear flap lists publisher's address as 1-19 New Oxford St., London. Epic juvenile fantasy trilogy dealing with a parallel universe which feels approximately 19th century; winner of the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. 399 pp. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
