Between The Acts
London: The Hogarth Press, 1941.. FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.256. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt titles to spine, pictorial dust-jacket designed by Vanessa Bell. Some spotting to endpapers, corners and end-caps slightly bumped, cloth to spine a degree faded. Dust-jacket shows well with some slight creasing to extremities, small loss to top of spine panel, some spotting to inner flaps. Very good. The author's last novel published shortly after her suicide, 'Between the Acts' describes the staging, performing and audience of a festival play (hence the title) in a small English village (based on Woolf's home parish of Rodwell, East Sussex) just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
