Quarter bound in brown cloth, with grey cloth-covered boards, and grey and gold title-label to spines. 160 x 237 x 265mm, all volumes together. I: (xl) + 497pp; II: 537pp; III: 482pp; IV: 416pp; V: 583pp; VI: 721pp. Includes 'My Own Life' by David Hume, plus a letter from Adam Smith to William Strahan, 1776. Silk head- and tail- bands; patterned endpapers; 1.6cm ribbon page-marker for each volume; frontispiece portrait of the author; attractive and easily-legible typeface; stitched binding. In general set appears little-used (if used at all); there are no significant blemishes to the covers; page-edges show one or two very minor grubby marks; each volume has previous-owner bookplate to front pastedown; internal contents appear immaculate throughout.
