For the Birds. In Conversation with Daniel Charles.
Boston & London: Marion Boyars, 1981 - Octavo. Original very pale yellowish-brown paper-covered boards, title gilt to the spine. With the laminated jacket. Spine slightly crumpled at the tail, jacket mildly tanned at the spine, front endpapers, title and half-title browned from the inclusion of a quantity of news-clippings, else very good. First edition in English, first published in French in 1976. This copy inscribed on the front free endpaper to publisher Marion Boyars; "for you, dear Marion, John Cage (The first sextuple)" The recipient's name and the signature have both been overwritten six times suggestive of the composer's use of chance, number and repetition in the Ryoanji drawings, creating here a similar- and in this case highly personalised - rhythmic blur [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
