- Original stipple engraving titled: 'Wood-Nymph.' This original print shows: a rural girl wearing a hat tied down with a scarf and a cape, carrying a bundle of wood. Handcoloured stipple and line engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. Description: Separately published master print. Our definition of master print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Published in 1787.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by J.R. Smith after S. Woodford. John Raphael Smith (Derby 1752-1812) was an English painter and mezzotint engraver. Among his best works are his reproductive mezzotints after Reynolds, as well as Morland. He was teacher to J.M.W. Turner and William Ward, among others. Details of the artist unknown, to be determined. Condition: Good given age. Margins faintly stained. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Light creasing. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: A254-05 The overall size is ca. 8.7 x 11.2 inch. The image size is ca. 8.1 x 10.4 inch. The overall size is ca. 22 x 28.5 cm. The image size is ca. 20.5 x 26.5 cm.
