Rare first edition, with cover and title as of 1874.Binding in full black morocco, back with five nerves adorned with sevenfold cold boxes, date gilded tail, gold wheels on the caps, framing dodecouple cold nets on the boards, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, framing a large golden lace on the contreplats, gilt fillets on the cups, covers and back preserved, all golden slices, case bordered of black morocco, plates of marbled paper, superb binding signed Semet & Plumelle.Printed in 1869 by Lacroix, this edition was not put on the market for fear of censorship. Only ten copies were broached and given to the author (five have been recorded to date). In 1874, Jean-Baptiste Rozez, another Belgian publisher and publisher, retrieves the stock and publishes the book with a cover and a title page relay date 1874, and no mention of publisher.It is in his bookshop that the poets of the Young Belgium will discover the first text.Literature of vertigo on the edge of the sustainable, of the adolescent excess, of a total blackness, the Songs of Maldoror , or the epic of a figure of the wandering evil in the world, became famous thanks to the surrealists who made it a true aesthetic manifesto.Provenance: from the library of François Ragazzoni with his ex-libris glued on a guard.Beautiful copy perfectly set in full morocco signed Semet & Plumelle and with its covers.
