- Plate : 'Chiens an defaut.' This plate shows a hunting scene with dogs and a man on a horse. Mezzotint engraving, coloured a la poupee, on a vellin type paper. Description: This original antique print was published in Paris by Jazet ca. 1820.Artists and Engravers: This plate by Carle Vernet. Antoine Charles Horace Vernet aka. Carle Vernet (1758 - 1836) was a French painter, the youngest child of Claude Joseph Vernet, and the father of Horace Vernet. Condition: Good. General age-related toning and light staining/soiling from handling as visible on image. Paper browned on the right, outside image area. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: DP-B8-04 The overall size is ca. 22 x 15 inch. The image size is ca. 14.6 x 11.8 inch. The overall size is ca. 56 x 38 cm. The image size is ca. 37 x 30 cm.
