Authors Dr. Robert Wahl and Dr. Max Henius founded the Wahl-Henius Institute of Fermentology in Chicago in 1886, and operated successfully until prohibition in 1921, when the brewing trade nearly dissolved and forced its closure and sale. "The American Handy-book of the Brewing, Malting and Auxiliary Trades" is considered one of two of the most important pre-prohibition texts on beer and brewing due to its near encyclopedic vision and detailed illustrations, covering nearly every known detail of the brewing process from chemistry, ingredients, brewing materials, buildings and pumps, yeast and wort, storage, bottling, beer types, legal regulations, and A-Z dictionary of terms (to name a few).___DESCRIPTION: Original full limp leather with extended flap that folds over the upper cover and is lettered in gilt, backstrip also lettered in gilt, all edges gilt, floral endpapers, numerous illustrations in text, octavo size (6.5" by 4.25"), 1266 pp., first edition.___CONDITION: A very good copy, internally bright and complete, text block is straight and square, no prior ownership markings, the delicate leather binding has been professionally restored along most of the joints (especially concerning the extended flap), some chipping and rubbing to edges, some small scattered holes do affect a select few pages of text, other than those condition points mentioned of the binding, this copy is complete, and overall very good.___POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply as the standard shipping charge does not always cover costs; please inquire for details.___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind book we sell.
