Weltraumbote ["Space Messenger"] Okt/Dez 1959. UFO / from the Max Miller Collection
Zurich: J. Heinrich Ragaz, 1959 Zurich: J. Heinrich Ragaz, 1959. First Edition of the 43/45 issue, Okt/Dez, 1959. Octavo, printed wraps, 48 numbered pp. Cover UFO photographs, interior map on page 18. Text in German. From Max Miller's collection. Age toning toward the perimeter, slight centerfold (pressable), else Very Good Plus or better. Very nicely preserved. Ragaz' well-regarded UFO periodical, which ran from 1956 to 1969, from the first age of UFOlogy. A Swiss publication because, we are told, German publications were still subject to censorship in the fifties - otherwise, essentially a West German title. At 48 pp, this one is half again longer than the usual 32 pp issue. Text is in German, but some of the remarkably text-rich articles are: "...uber die neurteilung von kontaktberichten" (roughly, an overview of contact reports), "Zweifel an George Adamski" (doubts about Adamski) , "Adamski in vergleichswissenschaftlicher schau von kosmobiologie und metapsychik", and a few too many more to try to translate in this longer-than-usual issue. Interesting UFO photos in this one, too. Scarce piece of early UFO history, in superb condition, from the collection of Max Miller of Flying Saucers International and Saucers magazine. L103
