The Prince of Wales [later Edward VIII] in Calcutta with the Officers of the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers on His India Tour 1921
Johnston & Hoffmann [Photographers], Calcutta 1921 - A very good photograph by Johnston & Hoffmann the leading Calcutta society photographer, bearing their blind stamped credit bottom right and in excellent condition with just small creases at three corners. On 29th December 1921 HRH Prince Edward, eldest son of King George V and future King Edward VIII, then Prince of Wales was due to present new colours to the 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers at Barrackpore, the Viceroy's country residence to the north of Calcutta. In the event the colours failed to arrive in time so the Prince inspected the regiment. The Prince was Colonel of the Regiment and all present wear khaki sservice dress, most with medals. This is very much a regimental 'family' occasion and there are no Indian officials or AsDC present. Size: 11.5 x 7ins [29 x 18cm] [Attributes: First Edition]
