Plea of the Negro Soldier and A Hundred Other Poems
Easthampton, MA: Enterprise Printing Company, 1908. First edition, 1908, with non-personalized inscription signed by the author and dated June 13, 1908. Poems by a Spanish-American War veteran who served as Chaplain of Wesley S. Brass Camp No. 37. Bright blue cloth lettered in gilt, about 7.5" tall, frontis portrait of the author, 172 pages. Some rubbing to the extremities and one transparent spot and a few black speckles to the front cover, good hinges, sound text block, occasional foxing to the pages, more to the rear endpapers, two pages a bit darkened from an old newspaper clipping stored there, pages otherwise a little age-yellowed but clean and unmarked, other than the author's inscription. Rear endpapers have "From Mabel to Emma" in pencil along with minor remnants of an old gift tag near the hinge.. Signed by the Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
