1943 - WORLD WAR II BLACK SOLDIER ¿YARDLONG¿ PHOTOGRAPH, Circa 1943. Interesting outdoor unit photo of dozens of Black soldiers and a few White officers seated in the middle. 30 ½¿ wide, 11¿ tall. No place or date (but can easily be researched). Approx.145 people. What is special is that the names of all the soldiers and officers are given at the bottom and therefore this photo unlike many others is eminently researchable. The photo is framed and under glass but it is definitely authentic and in period. The name of the unit is not evident though it can be looked up (it may be under the glass or on the back) but the commanding officer¿s name is shown (Capt. Frederick Malkus). Malkus was later active in Maryland political and civic life and at one point he was a state senator. Though there are dozens of men in the photo, their faces are clear and can be zoomed in on. Uncommon and well worth having from several points of view. Very Good condition.
