Ludwig Emil Grimm (1790-1863) was a German painter of historic subjects and engraver / etcher of landscapes, history and genre scenes from Steinau. He also made many good portraits. He is the brother of the philologists Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. He was a student of Karl Hess at the Academy in Munich. He became a Professor at the Cassel Academy. He is considered one of the modern artists in early 19th. century Germany. Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins, some ghosting around the image from previous matting. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: TPCLA-A4-24 The overall size is ca. 9.2 x 14.7 inch.
