Antique Master Print-FIN D'ORAGE-SAIL SHIP-STORM-WIND-SEA-Gouaz-Peters-ca. 1780
- Antique print, titled: 'Fin d'Orage', (End of the Storm). Shows sail ships on choppy water. The sun breaks through the thick clouds, marking the end of the sotmr. Etching/engraving on hand laid (verge) paper. Description: Published by Aliamet in Paris, c. 1780. Collection mark of J.H. Halbertsma (Lugt 1473). Artists and Engravers: Made by Y. Le Gouaz after Bonav. Peters. Bonaventura I Peeters (1614-1652), was a flemish baroque seascape painter. Yves-Marie le Gouaz (Brest, 1742 - Paris, 1816) was a French engraver, and a student of Nicolas Ozanne. Condition: Good, given age. Vertical creases. Two tears in the right margin, one extending into the image. Collection stamp on verso. Dampstain in left margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
