New York: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1905. Copyright date is 1905, This first edition of "The Opening of Tibet" is bound in green blind-stamped publisher's cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. There is gilt on the top page edges. The volume is adorned with a tipped-in tissue-guarded color frontispiece and numerous photographic plates throughout. There are some unopened pages. Chapters include "Former Exploration of Tibet;" "Crossing the Himalayas;" "The Dalai Lama Shows His Hand," and others. This volume shows nicely with only slight indications of age and shelfwear on corners and high points. The front hinge is cracked and the back hinge is partially cracked, the spine is shaken. There are mild indications of age toning though the text and images remain bold and clear throughout. Many leafs are not even cut indicating that it wasn't even read.. first Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/no dust Jacket. 4to - over 9" x 12" Tall. scarce History.
