Privately Bound . 1893. - Hard back navy buckram covers, gilt stamping. 9" x 7¼" 104 single sided hand cut sheets. Hand written proof copy in ink with pencil corrections, elaborate hand illustrated title page. Two newspaper clippings pasted to rear end papers from the 'Birkenhead News' dated 1904 : Lecture by Mr E. R. Dibdin under the auspices of the City Council. Mr Dibdin's charming breezy manner of distributing the sunshine found in Sicily among the audience, delighted equally with the beautiful photographs, which illustrated the lecture. Mr Dibdin first took his hearers by sea from Liverpool to Naples. Fine pictures were given of the scenery en route. Mr Dibdin took passage on a cargo boat and thus explored many of the tracks unbeaten by the ordinary tourist. SIGNED by the author to front end paper and his personal bookplate to front paste down. Separate card inviting members of the public to attend a sketching class given by Mr and Mrs E. Rimbault Dibdin at their home in Chester, with full board, lodgings and tuition for £6 6s 0d.
