History of Bunker Hill Battle, With a Plan; [bound with] Notes to his sketch of Bunker-Hill battle
Boston: Munroe and Francis, 1827 /. 8vo: 58; 34pp, with large folding map of the battle engraved by Annin & Smith. Bound in plain blue wrappers. The 34-page "Notes to His Sketch of Bunker Hill Battle" is complete with its own title page. A superb, untrimmed copy, quite fresh and bright with only minor creasing to the wrappers. Howes S-1178 and S-1179. Sabin 90460 and 94061. Menzies 1937. Third Edition, best and most complete, enlarged with new information from surviving veterans of the battle. (First edition published Boston, 1818, under the title, Historical and topographical sketch of Bunker Hill battle. Second edition (Boston, 1826), appeared under the title, History of Bunker Hill battle.) None of the copies examined by Sabin contained the portraits called for on the title-page, leading him to conclude there were none issued (and in fact in this copy and in those examined by Sabin, the author has drawn a line through the word "likenesses"). Note: With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, carefully preserved in archival, removable polypropylene sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed. Fine.
