Woodcut devices on each of the titles (smaller on the second and third title), and verso of the final leaf, three hundred and three woodcut illustrations of emblems, devices, hieroglyphs, insignia, and arms; elaborate head-pieces, tail-pieces, and ornamental initials. Printed marginal notations. Capaccio's comprehensive study of symbolic representations. "This is the first emblematic item to deal with flora and fauna, published 3 years before the books by Camerarius" Landwehr, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese emblem books, 203. Old mend to one of the leaves, worm holes to the lower margins of twelve of the leaves (not affecting text), old annotations to some of the margins, sporadic spots, names on title.
